PVC pipe extrusion in Brazil

Corr Plastik (Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil) boosted the production of PVC pipes to 6 000 tonnes a month with a factory with a new factory in the north east of the country. The extrusion lines for the new plant were supplied by KraussMaffei Berstorff (Munich, Germany)

image Two of the lines were double-strand lines headed by KMD 75-36/R twin-screw extruders from KraussMaffei Berstorff’s Performance series. Other two were single-strand lines with KMD 90-36/R Performance twin-screw extruders. The lines are configured to produce pipe with an outer diameter of 20 to 250 millimetres and are capable of producing up to 2,800 tonnes PVC pipe a month. In January 2010, Corr Plastik boosted production at the plant to 3,100 tonnes a month with a line for corrugated pipe. This tonnage, together with the production at the main plant in Cabreúva (São Paulo), brings Corr Plastik’s monthly pipe output to 6,000 tonnes a month, making the company one of the three biggest PVC pipe producers in Brazil.
