Joining Plastics conference

Timed to coincide with K 2010, the second WJS/ DVS Joining Plastics conference, organised by iSmithers, will be held on  2 November 2010, in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The introduction of new environmental regulations and the associated need for energy and weight reduction are impacting the way in which materials are assembled. A new generation of joining techniques are being developed, which have applications across the aerospace, automotive, piping, construction and medical sectors – these will all be explored in more detail at the conference” said Mike Troughton on behalf of conference organisers the Welding and Joining Society (WJS) of The Welding Institute (TWI) and the German Welding Society (DVS).

The one-day conference features an expert speaker panel who will cover advances in laser welding, infrared welding, ultrasonic welding and adhesive bonding as well as improvements in the welding of thermoplastic tanks and pipes, joining of composites and the testing of welded joints. The day will be comprised of two “streamed” sessions enabling delegates to build a bespoke event tailored to their own needs.
